AMYL AND THE SNIFFERS

I almost gave up hope of getting an answer from this Australian punk band. But suddenly 1 day, after about 1 and a half week, I got my answers (most people answer within a few days). What a nice surprise! Thanks to Magnus Högmyr at Playground Sweden for reminding them.
AMYL AND THE SNIFFERS have released 2 really great albums, and the latest, "Comfort To Me", was released just a few weeks ago. Read more about them in this little interview.

So, how come you formed AMYL AND THE SNIFFERS and when was that?
We formed in 2016. We were housemates living together and the boys in the band played in other bands and we lived with Amy (vocals) so we decided to start this band together.

And what has happened with the band since then?
We have released 2 EPs and 2 albums. We've toured Australia every year up to the pandemic, and in 2018 we started playing overseas and been to Europe and North America a handful of times.

I really liked your first album, but your new one seems to be even better, and even more punk. What can you tell us about the new album?
We started writing this album at the end of 2019 and on through the pandemic. We started pre production in maybe May or June 2020, and recorded it in October 2020. It was mixed in January and February 2021. The artwork was by Braulio Amando. We had a lot more time to write for this album than we did for the first album, but we didn't have the opportunity to test any of them live.

I guess that you are going on tour now? Are you coming to Sweden where I live?
Hopefully in 2022 we can tour overseas and visit Sweden. I miss Sweden a lot, on our first trip to Europe we played Malmo and Gothenburg and I have fond memories of both. Last visit to Europe we played Stockholm, and it was one of the best gigs we'd played. I also miss our friends VIAGRA BOYS a lot.

Are you full-time musicians or how does it work for you?
Yes we are, since we started touring overseas we didn't have time to have jobs in Australia, we didn't even have time to rent rooms in Australia. Now we are very lucky that enough people around the world enjoy our music and the band is able to support us full time.

Anything that you would like to add?
I've had the pleasure of meeting a few Swedish people in my short time travelling the world including VIAGRA BOYS, and they are all really lovely people! Sweden is one of the places I can't wait to get back to. I'm hoping we see you soon.
