THUNDERMOTHER

Hard rock n roll band THUNDERMOTHER was founded in Växjö, Sweden in the fall of 2009 by Filippa Nässil (guitar), which later moved to Stockholm. Members came and left during the first years, but in 2012 they finally had a stable lineup. Until March 2017, when everybody suddenly left Filippa. But she found some new members pretty fast and continued to rock. That lineup last until 2023, when the same thing happened again, everybody just left. But as the strong woman Filippa is, she had no thoughts about giving up, and once again she found a new team and are now happier than ever with the new lineup.
THUNDERMOTHER play a energetic kind of hard rock n roll, sometimes with elements of blues rock. In the beginning it was much AC/DC in their sound, but during the latest years their sound has developed. They has released 5 albums since 2014, and their 6th, "Dirty & Divine", will be released on February 7 via AFM Records (review soon).
I sent a few question to them about the new album, the new lineup and other things, and in late January 2025 I got the answers from Filippa. The result is a very short and quick interview (as usual I didn't have that many questions).

How would you describe the new album compared to your previous albums?
- It's 10 rock and roll hits straight through. We recorded it live and did an analogue recording. We wrote in our own time song by song without stress. We're super proud over the result of "Dirty & Divine".

There's some new members in the band. How would you describe the new lineup?
- Better musicians than ever. Our French drummer Joan Massing is a killer machine on drums, returning bassist Majsan Lindberg back on tight bass and Linnéa Vikström Egg on vox is a spontaneous master and technical master. Also an amazing songwriter.

What inspired you to start playing and form a rock band?
- I played very much as a teen in a rock school called Rytmus. Got a bit tired of shredding and when I discovered AC/DC I decided to build a rock band from scratch and give it my all.

How does the songwriting process work in your band?
- I wrote and had a hand in everything in all our albums. This album Linnéa had a huge contribution of writing songs. It was easy and fun. We also had some friends writing with us on a few tracks.

You seems to tour a lot. What are the plans for this year?
- Touring and bringing families on the "Dirty & Divine" tour that starts on the album release February 7 around Europe. We can't wait!
